Scope of the Position

The Warehouse Specialist will oversee and coordinate the upgrade of the Company’s warehousing activities. They will have experience preparing Warehouse and Distributions centres for new ERP systems. They will implement production, productivity, quality and customer service standards and achieve the appropriate level of volume within time limits. The Warehouse Specialist will possess excellent communication skills and will work closely with Warehouse staff and management. The Warehouse Specialist will be responsible for mapping and arranging the warehouse for optimal workflow in preparation for RF scanners and implementation of ERP. The Specialist will be responsible for identifying, developing and implementing improvements to SOPs.

Major Responsibilities

• Manage the warehouse layout and optimization to ensure inventory is organized and properly labelled with internal tracking systems
• Ability to identify and drive process improvement opportunities by partnering with cross functional stakeholders
• Work with many stakeholders to map out Head office warehouse and support branches across Canada
• Ensure warehouse is set up in an efficient manner to ensure optimal workflow and maintains inventory locations
• Plan warehouse layout and space requirements in order to prevent loss or damage, and to achieve full warehouse optimization.
• Identify areas of improvement and establish work procedures and practices while maintaining distribution operations
• Provide feedback on the effectiveness of warehousing activities
• Evaluate and develop SOPs to prepare for new ERP.
• Take into account full implications of freight turnover, size, weight, and other factors when allocating warehouse space.
• Develop and/or comply with corporate policies regarding security and safety in order to maintain a safe working environment.
• Identify discrepancies between inventory records and take action.
• Investigate causes of lost or damaged shipments and other matters; make adjustments where necessary.
• Investigate, implement and monitor performance metrics for shipping and receiving.
• Working knowledge of common warehouse and distribution center material handling equipment types and applications.

Skills and Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience managing warehouses
• Experience with Epicor ERP would be an asset
• Hands-on commitment to getting the job done
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
