Scope of Position                    

The Buyer is responsible for reviewing purchase requisitions and fulfilling the requirements of orders as well as maintaining inventory levels and reordering stock as needed. The Buyer will be required to research and negotiate with suppliers to obtain best possible prices. They will also be responsible for staying informed of the current market conditions/ product.

Major Responsibilities

• Operate within the general framework of purchasing policies established for the organization.
• Assist in developing purchasing objectives and in formulating policies for achieving them.
• Maintain good relations with suppliers and negotiate favorable prices and terms.
• Maintain regular ordering schedules.
• Order products based on the targets approved by management.
• Make manual adjustments to stock levels to reflect seasonality.
• Keep informed of current market conditions and new products that come to market.
• Maintain confidentiality of company records and financial information.
• Work toward better pricing on standard products.
• Seek opportunities to improve pricing and rebates.
• Develop product specifications in line with company targets for quality.
• Set and maintain inventory levels to achieve the desired number of turns.
• Order all stock and special orders, expediting when required.
• Update purchase pricing as required.
• Coordinate product returns and negotiates the return or disposal of all obsolete, overstocked, or slow-moving products

Skills and Qualification

• 5 years Buying experience or 2 years experience plus a knowledge of the electrical product range
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent organizational, multitasking, prioritization, and time management skills
• Purchasing Certificate (Preferred)
